Obstetrician/Gynecologist?
|
A Board Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist is a physician who has completed certain educational, evaluation and examination requirements. This must include but is not limited to graduation from an accredited medical school, completion of four years of graduate training in the field of obstetrics and gynecology in an approved residency program, and successful completion of a two-stage examination process. Applicants must first pass a one-day written examination. They must then take a final oral examination given by two teams of prominent ob/gyn physicians who evaluate the applicant's ability to manage a variety of ordinary and complex surgical problems. So, your doctor, if he or she is a Boarded Obstetrician Gynecologist, has completed a total of 12 years of school before being eligible to apply for certification. Is your doctor boarded, and if so, are the boards this rigorous? Check out this site for more information on Boarded Physicians: Certified Doctors.
