Endometrial Ablation

The endometrium is the hormonally sensitive tissue that lines the uterus. This is the tissue that grows each month and is expelled when a woman has menses. Some women have excessive, painful periods although their uterus is normal size and there may be no organically identifiable disease causing their problematic periods.

Endometrial ablation is an outpatient surgical procedure designed to destroy the lining of the uterus, the endometirum; and in this manner controlling the heavy and painful periods by either markedly diminishing the amount of menses or totally eliminating menses altogether.

If this is a procedure in which you have an interest, our physicians would be happy to evaluate you to see if you would be a candidate for endometrial ablation.
