Laparoscopically Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy
(LAVH)

LAVH is an operative procedure in which a major portion of the surgery is accomplished through three small 1/2-inch abdominal incisions using a television camera and special small instruments.

The uterus, and tubes and ovaries, if desired, are then removed through the vagina.

This procedure results in much less post operative discomfort and a quicker post operative recovery time as compared to abdominal hysterectomies requiring the usual 8 to 10-inch abdominal incision.
