URINARY TRACT INFECTION
Some helpful information about UTI's:
If you feel you may be developing an infection and have burning, pressure, or frequency of urination, call your doctor's office immediately. Leave a urine sample for testing to find out if it is a bacterial infection. If it is not bacterial, antibiotics will not help.
DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!!
If you already have an infection, forget cranberry juice. Cranberry juice is helpful in preventing infection, but the Vitamin C in the cranberries may only increase burning discomfort. Try adding 1/4 teaspoon baking soda to a glass of water to help ease symptoms. Your doctor may prescribe Pyridium, an analgesic which will turn your urine orange and may stain clothing.
If you are using a diaphragm, be sure it is the right size and put in properly.
Drink a large glass of water before intercourse. After intercourse, void properly and completely. Just a small amount of urine will not wash out bacteria.
Never urinate while wearing a tampon.
DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!
If you take bubble baths, stop.
If you have a UTI, avoid sex until you feel better and symptoms are better.
And be sure to DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!
